“Ain’t nothin over… till it’s over”

Filed under: General - Ryan @ 5:25 pm

I have to say I’m pretty excitied about the new Rocky movie coming out December 22nd the trailers seem pretty tight. This is the sixth movie of the Rocky Balboa saga and probably the last but personally I’ve never get tired of these flicks. The thing that I’ve always admired about the Rocky series is the idea of the underdog and how hard Rocky has had to fight for respect even when he was proclaimed to be the best. Another thing I’ve always loved is the hardcore training scences whether it is training in a meat locker, in the snow/barn in Russia, or running stairs in Phily they are very inspiring and it looks as though Rocky 6 has some great training scences as well. Oh and I almost forgot the music is sick too.

“It ain’t how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

The Biggest “Big Game”

Filed under: Football - Ryan @ 4:17 am

Did You Know?

• The winner will earn the outright Big Ten championship and a trip to the BCS national title game.
• This is the first time Michigan and Ohio State have met as the top two ranked teams.
• Since the “Big Game” was moved to the last weekend of the conference season, the schools have met twice when each team was undefeated and untied (1970, ‘73) and another time as unbeatens (1975).
• This will be the third time Michigan plays in a matchup of the top two teams in the country. U-M lost at home to top-ranked Notre Dame in 1943 (35-12) and at No. 1 Iowa in 1985 (12-10).
• This will be the 38th meeting between the top two teams in the AP poll since its inception in 1936. The No. 1 team holds a 22-13-2 edge in those games.
• U-M has won 42 Big Ten titles, while OSU has claimed 30.

If you’re not watching this game on Saturday you’re not a real sports fan!!!

Big Hurt A Blue Jay?

Filed under: Baseball - Ryan @ 5:11 am

The Blue Jays may be on the verge of adding another powerful bat to its lineup. According to ESPN.com, Toronto is nearing a multi-year deal with free-agent slugger Frank Thomas that could be worth more than $30 million. According to the report, the deal with Thomas is contingent on him passing a physical.

Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi could not be reached for comment. Another source within the organization told MLB.com that the report was more substantial than a rumor, but they would neither confirm nor deny that a deal had been reached. The Jays were rumored to be interested in Thomas last winter, when the 38-year-old DH signed an incentive-laden contract with Oakland after spending 16 years with the Chicago White Sox.

The two-time American League Most Valuable Player bounced back from an ankle injury in 2006 and hit .270 with 39 home runs and 114 RBIs in 137 games. Thomas eclipsed 30 homers for the ninth time in his career and the 39 long balls were his most in a season since ‘03.
